Bedroom Designs

As we all know by now, we spend on average, a third of our lives in bed, or at least we should!  Because that means we are getting our needed rest.  So it’s no wonder that the bedroom is one of the most important rooms in the house…ranks right up there with kitchen, believe it or not.

Bedroom design starts with the number one most important design element, comfort and relaxation.  Our bedroom is our oasis to get away from it all…to simply close the door and shut out the rest of the world.

Harmony and tranquility is top priority when it comes to bedroom designs, so always keep this in the forefront of your bedroom decorating.  Start with calming colors like blues and greens when selecting a color scheme.  Or warm, inviting colors like reds and orange.

Your focal point is the bed and you should really play up the bed  and the bedding ensemble.  A large sleigh bed with leather headboard or four-poster bed is a good starting point.

Keep in mind that you do not always need a footboard.  The square footage of the room will determine whether you will have room for it as well as other bedroom furniture, like armoires and chest of drawers.

Always place your bed opposite of the entry door against a wall not a window.  And you should never have to climb over your bed to get to your side of the bed.

Top of your bedding ensemble with decorative pillows in beautiful colors and textures in silks, leathers, furs, and so forth.  Texture is key.

Also keep your bedroom tidy and clutter free.  This will help you to further relax in your space and calm your mind.  I have more great bedroom design ideas in my book, “Secrets To Home Decorating Success”.
